At its best (Lullabye Arkestra, the Handsome Family), the work of romantically involved musicians can make you feel the size of a collaborating couple’s love. Such is the case with Get Yr Blood Sucked Out, the fourth studio album by Portland pair Kevin and Anita Robinson. Though the disc was written and performed by the duo (save for a cluster of handclapping guests), it feels way huger than the work of two people, with dense, textured songs that sound like a remarkable collision between two distinct personalities. This is Kyuss-smoked riffage and delicate folk refracted through a shimmery, shoegaze lens, with songs that veer sharply between the extremes. Check the sudden mood shift from trumpet-goosed guitar wallop of sixth track So Many Miles to curiously tender track seven, the awesomely named ballad We Do Not Fuck Around. It’s like Britta Phillips and Dean Wareham crossed with Katie Lynn Campbell and Ian Blurton, an album to crush out on hardcore.

Viva Voce bliss out at Lee’s Palace Tuesday (October 17).
