Voodoo Child Baby Monkey (V2) Rating: NN
Rating: NN
It’s good to be Moby right now. His music is selling so many cars he no longer needs to worry about whether anyone will buy his CDs, so he’s free to self-indulgently record and release anything he likes. That happens to be boring Euro-style electronic body music, plodding techno with a dash of chill-out hum, judging by his new Baby Monkey disc, for which he cleverly reverts to his old Voodoo Child alias to avoid irreparable damage to his profitable Moby brand name. There’s nothing new, exciting or innovative here. It’s all a throwback to an early-90s vibe, but that’s probably just what he was going for.
