You won't recognize any of the four members of the Vulcan Dub Squad on the street. Anonymity's their bag. According to their site, they "refuse the spectacle of celebrity, because we are everyone, because the carnival beckons, because the world is upside down" - yadda yadda. Basically, they wear masks at their shows. Of course, the hidden-performer theme doesn't preclude their playing pretty indie rock guitar melodies with Broken Social-esque vocal breeze and poetic licence. On You Can Come, they even incorporate sitars and 70s easy-listening flutes into the mix. Some stoner psych rock and garage rock remind me of early White Stripes.
Vulcan Dub Squad beam into Sneaky Dee's Sunday (July 31).
