Wagon Christ

Rating: NNN

If one Wagon Christ album isn’t much like another, it’s close enough that the distinctions aren’t worth making for most listeners. But make no mistake, Luke Vibert’s (aka Wagon Christ) patterns are intricate, and his sensibility isn’t reproducible. His nervy use of minute tonal differences and changes in temperament are at the very top of the field. And his employment of tongue-in-cheek samples, squirrelly voice-like rhythms and other playful moves gives his work a kind of warmth that few techno-ites can equal.
