So far, the studio recordings of Hamilton's one-man metal band Wax Mannequin have never quite cut it. And understandably, it's been difficult for him to realize his HiWatt stack dreams working a Roland Cube budget. But with The Price, Wax Mannequin makes a welcome move beyond the typical four-track twitter toward the sort of wall-shaking heaviosity that his fist-shaking anthems demand. Now, if only someone could convince the Darkness to cover Message From The Queen or R&R Wind, Wax Mannequin's music might one day be played in the cavernous sports arenas where it really deserves to be heard.
Wax Mannequin rocks the Tin Tin Tin soirée Wednesday (April 28) at the Drake Hotel.
