Too many cooks? At points, the second disc from Andres Levin’s poly-instrumental Latin music collective sounds like a music class where everyone’s playing and singing at once while the teacher patiently rubs his temples. The guest list is also odd, with sub-subpar guest appearances by John Leguizamo, Les Nubians and Celia Cruz all on the same song, which is not nearly as epic as it would seem. Leguizamo does a lame sex rap, and the latter two barely register. Too weird. More baffling, M1 from Dead Prez shows up a bit later to mumble sloppily below the mix. When they pump out more traditional Afro-Cuban stuff, you’ll want to sail off, but even in this context there are weird moves, like the song about burritos. Weren’t these guys supposed to be the future of urban music?

Yerba Buena heat up Harbourfront Centre Saturday (July 16).
