Young Heart Attack

Rating: NNN

Sexy like licking the salty sweat off the necks of greasy rockers in leather jackets, Austin shit-disturbers Young Heart Attack worship at the throne of Angus Young on their rowdy debut. It’s total fist-shaking stoner party music, rife with thundering virtuoso guitar solos, bombastic drums and repeated references to “riff-raff” and “mary jane” (heh), as on the Stonesy (Take Me Back) Mary Jane (the album’s only low-key moment). The arena-rock melodies are repetitive, but they make you want to headbang in front of a mirror, and the lusty vocal interplay of high-pitched shouter Chris Hodge and coy Jennifer Stephens (who sounds like a cross between Rachel Nagy and a rogue Donna) cuts the meaty testosterone quotient with something refreshingly sexier.

Young Heart Attack open for Peaches at the Opera House Wednesday (May 5).
