An elegant mix of modern jazz and world music, Yvette Tollar's sophisticated sophomore album is full of acoustic piano, percussion and the exotic sound of her brother Ernie's bamboo flute.
Though Ima would benefit from strong-er vocals, Tollar's favourite covers, spoken word and poetry set to music are beautifully delivered. Rich Brown's arrangements are flawless, putting you in an almost hypnotic state, and Tollar and her songs are simply pure and sweet.
Still, with the exception of three songs, the album may end up a collection piece and not a frequent listen.
Top track: Fall Down
