THE FUTURE SOUND OF TORONTO Featuring Egyptrixx, Syntonics, Sta, Loe tech, Autoerotique, Mansion, Pilotpriest and TMDP at Circa (126 John), Friday (January 30), 10 pm. $15. circatoronto.com.
AutoErotique were still known as VND/LSM (a similarly named Australian band forced them to change it) when they burst onto the global scene thanks to influential DJ Diplo, who included their bootleg reworking of Rihanna’s Umbrella on a mix he did for the tastemaking music website Pitchfork.

Since then, they’ve continued to turn cheesy pop songs into big-room bangers and to crank out some catchy originals of their own.
LABEL ACTION
They’re currently signed to Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label, and you can download their hot-shit bootleg remix of Lykke Li’s Little Bit at rcrdlbl.com for free.
WHAT THEY SOUND LIKE
“From the very start it’s been important to us to approach each track individually, without a staple or cookie-cutter sound. We never seem to end up with any two songs sounding similar.”
WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN FOR TORONTO’S SCENE TO BLOW UP LARGE
“People need to stop pretending that it hasn’t already.”
