Rating: NNNNN
amped-up no-frills rock duo made up of Metric’s rhythm section – Joshua Winstead and Joules Scott-Key – who kick out the jams at Lee’s Palace (529 Bloor West) Friday (August 24). $14.50. 416-532-1598.
What’s the best rumour you’ve ever heard about yourself?
Joules: That I’m related to Francis Scott Key.
Josh: That Joules and I are twins.
What song or record changed your life?
Joules: The Monster Mash. I had it on 45, and when I was nine I decided to play drums along to it on one drum. When I realized I could actually do it, I knew I wanted to be a drummer. I still have that record – “It was a graveyard smash!”
Josh: Weird, cuz I (the other half of Bang Lime) also used to listen to that record, but I’d sing along.
Which song do you wish you’d written and why?
Joules: Please Sunrise, by Augustus Pablo, cuz it’s the best song ever written.
Josh: Welcome To The Jungle, cuz of the riffage and weird-ass vocal sounds.
What’s your biggest regret?
Joules: Eating oysters in Heathrow Airport on the way to Japan.
Josh: Sitting next to my bandmates in a van after they’d eaten oysters at Heathrow Airport.
Best high?
Joules: The little death (la petite morte).
Josh: When I beat Kasparoff at chess.
