Born again

Start salivating! The Burger’s Priest has finally revealed that the long-planned third location of its ridiculously popular temple to burgerdom is located at 463 Queen West. That’s just west of Spadina on the south side, directly across the street from the equally hallowed Banh Mi Boys.

“I asked them for permission before I signed the lease, to make sure I had their blessing,” says the BP’s friar of fries, Shant Mardirosian. “I told them that if they didn’t want me there, I wouldn’t sign. But they’re totally cool with it. We agreed that it would make both of us busier.”

Watch for a “guaranteed” mid-May launch in the space currently occupied by the Hell’s Belles goth clothing shop.

“Kind of ironic, isn’t it?”

Federal case

Our Readers Poll winner for best new restaurant of 2012, Federal Reserve (1438 Dundas West, at Dufferin, 647-352-9120, thefed.ca), has just introduced dinner service. Show up fashionably late from 7 pm till 1 am every night of the week except Monday for snackables like mac ‘n’ cheese ($7), fried chicken bao ($5) and the daily board ($25).

Room with a view

Everybody’s dreamboat, Cory Vitiello of the still hip ‘n’ happening Harbord Room (89 Harbord, at Spadina, 416-962-8989, theharbordroom.com), has annexed nearby Messis. The new unnamed-as-yet boîte is set for a mid-April launch, which means June – maybe.

“We’ll start with dinner and gradually shift into lunch and brunch,” says Vitiello. “My long-time sous, Curt Martin, will be coming on as partner and head chef, and I’ll be spending most of my time at the Room. We’re going to try to keep the two restaurants independent of each other.”

Not that Garage

You may have seen signs on the old Village Rainbow at Church and Maitland trumpeting the upcoming launch of the Church Street Garage. Name ring a bell?

“I wish them no malice, but we have nothing to do with it,” says the Garage Sandwich Company’s (497 Church, at Wellesley, 416-929-7575) Randy Filby. The original Garage has been keeping a low profile of late since moving from its digs a block north into the back of not-that Pusateri’s.

“A lot of people don’t know we’re still here.”

Czeching out

Well, that didn’t last long! The Prague European Kitchen at Queen West and Palmerston has thrown in the towel after a five-month run. Seems to us they couldn’t decide whether they wanted to be an old-school deli or a cocktail lounge.

No way, Subway!

New York Subway is dead! The beloved no-frills take-away famed for its Indo-Mex submarine sandwiches has officially changed its name to New York Subs & Burritos (520 Queen West, at Portland, 416-703-4496). Everything else is the same – same bizarre menu, same grumpy guy behind the counter who’s been there since day one. We’re guessing it had something to do with the Subway next door.
