July Talk, A Tribe Called Red and Charlotte Day Wilson highlight the one-day festival at Echo Beach
It will be a noticeably lighter festival season this summer, but fed-funded CanCon always finds a way. CBC Music Festival – billed as the country’s largest all-Canadian festival – has just announced the lineup for its sixth year, May 26 at Echo Beach.
Toronto radio rockers July Talk take top billing over guaranteed party-starters A Tribe Called Red and NOW cover star Charlotte Day Wilson, playing her first hometown concert after her two sold-out release shows at the Danforth Music Hall in April.
Also on the bill are indie veterans the Rural Alberta Advantage, Canadian hip-hop supergroup Northern Touch All-Stars (celebrating the 20th anniversary of their namesake song), plus Yukon Blonde, Busty & the Bass, Milk & Bone, the Jerry Cans, Fortunate Ones, Boogat, Logan Staats, Johnny Balik, Ammoye, Midnight Shine, Caveboy and the winner of CBC’s Searchlight talent contest aquakultre.
Like a more broadcaster-friendly Field Trip, the one-day festival will also include kid’s activities and food trucks and, if you don’t feel like buying tickets, you can livestream it on YouTube, Facebook and CBCMusic.ca.
