CBC Music Festival announces 2018 lineup: Just announced Toronto concerts

July Talk, A Tribe Called Red and Charlotte Day Wilson highlight the one-day festival at Echo Beach

It will be a noticeably lighter festival season this summer, but fed-funded CanCon always finds a way. CBC Music Festival – billed as the country’s largest all-Canadian festival – has just announced the lineup for its sixth year, May 26 at Echo Beach.

Toronto radio rockers July Talk take top billing over guaranteed party-starters A Tribe Called Red and NOW cover star Charlotte Day Wilson, playing her first hometown concert after her two sold-out release shows at the Danforth Music Hall in April.

Also on the bill are indie veterans the Rural Alberta Advantage, Canadian hip-hop supergroup Northern Touch All-Stars (celebrating the 20th anniversary of their namesake song), plus Yukon Blonde, Busty & the Bass, Milk & Bone, the Jerry Cans, Fortunate Ones, Boogat, Logan Staats, Johnny Balik, Ammoye, Midnight Shine, Caveboy and the winner of CBC’s Searchlight talent contest aquakultre

Like a more broadcaster-friendly Field Trip, the one-day festival will also include kid’s activities and food trucks and, if you don’t feel like buying tickets, you can livestream it on YouTube, Facebook and CBCMusic.ca.

May 26 at Echo Beach (909 Lake Shore West). Doors 1:30 pm, all ages. $39.50.On sale March 23. ticketmaster.ca.
