VIBE A goth club: lots of people dressed in black or leather, strobes and black lights, industrial and retro alternative music, and a “dark future” design aesthetic. Things aren’t all evil, though. There’s a pleasing undercurrent of sexuality in the air, and women seem to feel comfortable being sexy without worrying about aggressive guys.

Features Some pool tables for those who don’t dance (smartly positioned far away from the dance floor), and a gogo dancer (not too common these days). The music incorporates some electronica, so it’s a decent middle ground for those not willing to go full-on goth.

VALUE Pretty cheap. Saturday-night cover is only $3, and domestic beer is $4.50. You’re not getting any superstar DJs for that, but this feels more like a party than many big-name-DJ events.

BATHROOMS Two words: grungy and small. There was a lineup for the guys’ washroom, which doesn’t bode well for the situation at the women’s. There are, however, much worse in the city.
