VIBE Remember Shag? Now it’s an upscale fancy drink lounge with DJs playing mellow grooves nightly. A less conservative-looking crowd than similar establishments attract in areas like the College strip and King West. Nice place for a bit of pre-party socializing.
FEATURES There’s a great little patio looking out to the street. The lighting and design inside are modern but fairly warm. Some very creative cocktails on the menu, but the selection of beers is small – they mainly stick to the micro-breweries and imports.
VALUE Drinks aren’t cheap, but they’re exotic enough so you don’t feel like you’re getting ripped off too badly. No cover, mandatory coat check or washroom attendant, so it’s possible to go without emptying your wallet.
WASHROOMS Clean and functional, but a bit small. Then again, so is the bar, so lineups aren’t a problem. The walls are covered with blackboards, and chalk graffiti is encouraged.
