Cloak & Dagger
394 College - 416-921-8308
VIBE Not a club or a lounge, but an old-school pub that happens to have DJs most nights. Tiny, smoky and friendly, it's a good pre-party spot or, for those sick of clubs, a final destination. Music ranges from booming roots reggae to punk to vintage soul to garage rock, so go with an open mind. The crowd, ranging from university students to people who might be their teachers, tends to be more casual and artsy than the rest of the College strip.
FEATURES Not many. There's a tiny patio out front, a couple of battered speakers hanging from the ceiling, good service (if you can squeeze your way to the bar) and a homey atmosphere.
VALUE No cover, and decent prices for a good selection of draught beers and liquor. Definitely not the kind of place where there'd be a coat check or washroom attendant.
WASHROOMS Like the rest of the place, they're tiny. Come to think of it, some big clubs have washrooms the size of this entire pub. Grungy, but reasonably clean and functional.
