VIBE The weekly Mod Club parties have been so successful that the promoters have decided to open a club dedicated to their Anglophile concept. Saturdays the party takes place in two clubs – the Mod Club Theatre and across the street at Revival (783 College, 416-535-7888), where Mod Club has lived for the past while. One cover gets you into both clubs, and the music is a mixture of classic mod (60s R&B, ska, British rock) and current Britpop anthems. Fridays focus on glam rock, Thursdays are for ska and screening of British movies will soon take place on Wednesdays.
VALUE Fridays and Saturdays have a cover, which can vary if there is a live guest, and drink prices are not exactly bargain basement ($13 for a domestic pint and a gin and tonic). $2 coat check, which isn’t mandatory (yet).
BATHROOMS Clean but surprisingly small (on the top floor at least). Bathrooms on both floors means not much waiting, even at busy times.
LINEUP Last Saturday there was a substantial queue at both the Mod Club Theatre and Revival. Even the guest-list lineup was long. Lesson being, get there early on the big nights.
