JAI BAR 214 Adelaide West, 416-977-5252
VIBE Open for a couple years at the location that was formerly Sly, Atmosphere and Syn, Jai Bar's big selling point is the sound system and the acoustic padding on the walls. It's definitely loud, but it's also more than a bit harsh and not set up particularly well. Fish tanks line the dance floor, and there's a second-floor lounge that opens if there are enough people. A lot of different kinds of nights have happened here - from house to progressive to hiphop - but none have stuck around for long. Typical club-district crowd, lots of 905ers and too many guys (for a straight club).
VALUE Depends on the night. A big guest DJ may entail a substantial cover, but usually there isn't one. Drinks aren't cheap; a standard mixed drink will run you $6.
BATHROOMS Clean and big enough for the size of the club. Sometimes a security guard or attendant keeps an eye on them.
LINEUP If the night's going well, there will be a one, but attendance is up and down here, so it's hard to predict. Not so busy these days, but things change quickly.
