COCOCOMA at Great Hall. Thurs June 17. myspace.com/cococoma Rating: NNNN

It’s good thing Chicago’s CoCoComa are a raucous garage rock combo not too concerned with venue acoustics because the Great Hall has some of the roughest in town when it comes to loudness.

Even though the sound of their Black Lips-like blasts was bouncing off the heritage building’s old walls, it didn’t seem to dampen the band or audience’s good time.

With drummer Bill Roe doing vocal duties and wife Lisa on rhythm guitar, the four-piece bashed through a high-octane set of barn burners off their sizzling slab on Goner, Things Are Not All Right.
