DO THE DECADENCE
Say what you will about parties at the Guvernment, nobody does them bigger. Seems like they’ve been paying attention to changing musical trends and have stacked the main room with electro-ish DJs, including hometown heroes MSTRKRFT as well as buzz-worthy production team Boys Noize. If you need some trance in your pants, there’s plenty of it at Kool Haus.
Brooklyn’s DJ Spinna is well loved locally for his genre-spanning sets of hiphop, deep house, soul, funk and jazz. Milk and Hotstepper have joined forces again to bring him to Revival for a night of smooth organic dance music.

When the Never Forgive Action team started doing their Hip-Hop Karaoke nights, no one could have predicted how popular they’d become. This edition will be their last at the Boat, as it’s clear they’ve definitely outgrown the charmingly dingy dive bar. Get there way early if you want to sign up, and make sure you know those rhymes.
SHOCK THE MONKEY
Circa keeps bringing in the big names of the new school for Randomland Fridays, this week hosting Simian Mobile Disco. Their smokin’ live set should be a perfect fit for the main-room stage, and should have no problem getting the day-glo clad kids dancing.

The second edition of Dirty Disco will also be the launch of the Augusta House, a new venue run by the people who owned the White Orchid down the street. The concept for the event is to trace the influence of disco on club music from its earliest days to present, featuring DJs Dirty Dale, Vitaminsforyou, Dougie Boom and me, Benjamin Boles.
The Make It Funky crew are celebrating their third anniversary this weekend at Revival. Huge lineup of talent for the night, highlights being DJ Swamp and Tittsworth, alongside the usual locals. Expect hiphop, breaks, funk and electro.

Toronto techno team AFE Society are celebrating their second anniversary by bringing German techno god Steve Bug to Footwork. He’s played some mindblowing sets in Toronto in the past and can always be relied on for sexy, thumping beats.
The new party Dopplehertz is starting with a bang at Wrongbar. For the inaugural event, they’re bringing in hyped-up international talent in the form of Riot in Belgium and Headman, alongside some local support from Sta and VND/LSM. Both local acts are on the verge of blowing up, so don’t blow them off in favour of the headliners.
