Let's Get Physical
When German production/DJ duo M.A.N.D.Y. started their Get Physical label back in 2002, they had no idea it would help usher in a whole new genre (generally called electro-house, for lack of a better term). Very few labels enjoy both underground respect and mainstream success, but most labels aren't Get Physical, which is why you should go to the Social and check them out.
From Russia with love
DJ Vadim's transition from downtempo, drum 'n' bass and triphop to authentic hiphop and dancehall has gone more smoothly than anyone might have predicted. He's bringing some MCs along for the ride this time for a live show at the Drake Hotel Underground.

Flash in the pan
Are you sick of the Ed Banger sound yet? If you're not, you'll probably want to check out Mr. Flash at Circa, part of Random Land. Think punk-funk, disco-rap and electro, at maximum volume.
Push it real good
If you're looking for some brainy minimal techno and IDM, go see Thomas Brinkmann as part of the Pusher party at the Reverb. He can be deeply experimental, but chances are he'll keep the dance floor in mind for this gig.
Open up and say Om
Summer may be over, but Om Records is still celebrating the season with the release of DJ Heather's Summer Sessions 2, at Revival. She's a technically skilled DJ of the Chicago bump school, while downstairs Master Kev will be bringing the old-school NYC vibes.

Baltimore club is the sound of the minute, so why not check out how someone who's actually from that city plays it? Granted, Dave Nada is definitely second-wave Bmore, but his sampling of the MC5's Kick Out The Jams is brilliant and should inspire you go to his gig at Sneaky Dee's, part of Fuck Faces.
Ayro through your heart
If you've ever caught Detroit's Jeremy "Ayro" Ellis performing his soulful broken beat live, you know exactly why you shouldn't miss this intimate gig at Toi Bar, part of the weekly Vintage party. Watching his fingers turn into a blur as he taps out complex math beats on his sampler keypad is mind-boggling, not to mention his vocals and piano skills.
