Barcelona-based duo Audiofly blend elements of minimal techno with jackin’ house beats and electro attitude, making them a great fit at the critically acclaimed Get Physical label (home of Booka Shade, among others). Expect deep melodic tech-house from their DJ set at the Social (1100 Queen West).

Pimpin’ ain’t easy
Random Land’s Sneaker Pimps party at Circa (126 John) isn’t a reference to the band of the same name, but a touring collection of rare shoes. Along with the footwear is DJ Premier, one of hiphop’s most prolific producers and a highly eclectic DJ as well. His genre-bending approach might confuse more closed-minded hiphop heads, but the hipster kids at this event should get a kick out of his juxtapositioning of rock and rap (and anything else he can scratch in).
All good things must come to an end, and that includes long-running CKLN hiphop radio show Circle Research, which is finally signing off after a decade of phone-in freestyle battles and wacky scratch-happy DJing. The farewell party at Supermarket (268 Augusta) is also going to be the launch of Circle Research’s move to the wild frontier of Internet radio. Expect anything from hiphop to electro to disco, and be prepared to sweat.

The great Beyond
The monthly Dub & Beyond party at Andy Poolhall (489 College) brings together dub reggae with its various offspring, including UK dubstep as well as contemporary dancehall. This month the Version Xcursion crew are joined by Juno Award-winning singer Korexion, who’ll be playing an early unplugged set at 9:30 pm. Later on, legendary reggae soundcrew King Turbo will be represented by their Morning Ride DJs (heard Monday mornings on CIUT).
