What Toronto restaurant do you like to eat at before a show?
I love the Fish Store on College (657 College, 416-?533-?2822). It has arguably the best wild salmon sandwich in the universe. And it’s well ?priced.
Who is your favourite Toronto artist?
It would be a toss-up between singer/?songwriter Royal Wood and jazz guitarist Reg Schwager. As far as Royal is concerned, I love his tunes, his lyrical, simple songwriting and straightforward approach to performing. I caught a whole slew of his Monday-night slots at the Cameron before he blew up. And when it comes to Reg, his guitar playing is like a breath of heaven. His harmonies are always the perfect choice, and his voicings are simply beautiful.
What do you love most about Toronto?
“The neighbourhoods. They break up the monolithic urban sprawl and give the city its defining characteristics.
How do you spend your day off in Toronto?
I love hitting up an NFB Mediatheque viewing station or walking along the beach after dark. The MOCCA is always promising (and pwyc), and then there’s checking out a film at the newly reopened Revue Cinema.
