Flaming Lips, Killer Mike and what to see at NXNE on Saturday

Here’s a list of shows you should be seeing Saturday night at NXNE.

Flaming Lips The veteran space rockers are always impressive live, so expect most of city to be down at Yonge-Dundas square by the time they hit the stage at 9 pm.

Killer Mike The Grammy-winning Atlanta rapper plays his first of two NXNE gigs tonight at Wrongbar at 1 am. Take note that the Wrongbar NXNE showcases are passes only, so don’t show up at the door hoping to just pay a cover charge.

Chang-A-Lang The Toronto power pop trio are always fun live, and they pay the Rochester tonight at 10 pm.

Vibonics The six piece hip-hop/rock/soul/funk band began life as a homework assignment, but are much more fun that that sounds. They play the Velvet Underground tonight at 10 pm

Ceremony This California band is getting a lot of love lately for reconfiguring hardcore punk into few forms, and play two NXNE gigs today. First they’re at Yonge-Dundas square at 3 pm, and later they’ll be at Wrongbar at 11 pm.

The Deer Tracks This Swedish electronic pop duo make blissful yet eerie tunes that have the blogs buzzing. They play the Rivoli tonight at 10 pm.

NOW NXNE Showcase This year NOW Magazine has joined forces with promoter Dan Burke and Pretty Pretty to co-present the Saturday night at the Silver Dollar. All the bands are great, and this is also your last chance to catch Bleached, who appear to have played about a trillion official and unofficial gigs this week.

Secret shows We can’t say who, but the special guests playing Sneaky Dee’s and the Bovine Sex Club tonight at 2 am are both worth checking out. We’d drop some hints, but NXNE might cut us off.
