VIBE Still going strong 10 years on, Fly, one of the last of the big gay dance clubs in the village, might be familiar from the show Queer As Folk. It has a small lounge downstairs and a larger dance floor upstairs, and a third floor overlooking the main room offers lots of opportunities for people-watching. Saturdays the music tends toward tribal house and circuit, while Fridays rotate through a more mixed musical lineup.
VALUE Depending on the DJ, cover charge can be hefty, but you can usually save a few bucks by getting there early. A domestic beer goes for $5.25.
SOUND AND LIGHTS The sound system in the main room is one of the city’s tighter dance rigs. The impressive lighting grid moves up and down throughout the evening and it looks like they bought a dozen of every available lighting effect.
CAN YOU DANCE? Unlike too many other modern clubs, Fly is built for dancing, not bottle service. In fact, you probably won’t have a great time unless you’re willing to get down there’s not a lot of space to be a wallflower.
