A week doesn't seem long enough to showcase 1,000-plus bands, a film festival, 150 comics and 65 NXNEi sessions.
But somehow, the 19th edition of Canada's North By Northeast Festivals And Conference - happening June 10 to June 16 - has added a stimulating visual art component that includes graffiti-made-over construction zones, TTC performances and connections to an AGO show.
With the arts positively seeping into every Toronto sidewalk crack, it's nearly impossible to pick favourites. But we're looking forward to musician and rapper Big Boi, punk legends Social Distortion, comedian Dylan Moran, artist Darren Copeland's Underwater Sound Walk at Trinity Square Park, the B.B. King: The Life Of Riley documentary featuring B.B. himself, Bono and Eric Clapton, and a Women In Music: More Than Ever Before presentation with panelists Melissa Auf der Maur and No Joy.
Buckle up. nxne.com.
