San Francisco's Girls have been enjoying drooling reviews from Pitchfork for their cheekily titled debut record, Album (True Panther Sounds/Matador). But don't hold that against them. They're actually capable of living up to the overwhelming hype. Picture a young Elvis Costello covering Evan Dando's best lovesick/drugsick songs, and then add a touch of early 90s shoegazer for cool points. They make their Toronto debut November 10 at the El Mocambo.
