This summer 75 musical youth are attending Girls Rock Camp 2013 – three week-long day programs where girls learn to play instruments, jam in a band, write and record their own songs, then perform them at a showcase.
This is GRC’s third year and most ambitious programming to date. To help cover increasing expenses – gear, food, artists’ fees – they’ve set up an Indiegogo campaign. The goal is to raise $10,000, there are two weeks left to donate, and about $5,000 to go. Donate at indiegogo.com/projects/girls-rock-camp-toronto.

Lookie! NYC’s Complex mag is the lucky publication to finally score a Weeknd cover, claiming it’s Abel Tesfaye’s first-ever interview. True, Toronto’s own enigmatic R&B sensation is almost as famous for his media shyness as he is for his yearning falsetto.
If the hazy Complex photographs are any indication, though, he’s still into that whole man-of-mystery thing. (You know, Abel, we can see you in your music videos.)
Here’s hoping it’s the first of more interviews to come – you know, maybe with a Toronto pub this time?
