Julie Doiron CD Release Party

• The 360 (326 Queen West), tonight (Thursday, September 23)

The ex-Eric’s Tripper who had legions of 90s indie kids worshipping at her altar launches her lovely new Goodnight Nobody disc with Euro-pop pals Herman Düne at the 360.

Kieran Kane, Kevin Welch, David Francey

• Hugh’s Room (2261 Dundas West), Saturday and Sunday (September 25 and 26)

This contemporary folk summit promises to turn into a full-on pickin’ party as Kieran Kane and Kevin Welch join forces with David Francey for a terrific two-night stand at Hugh’s Room.

Matt Mays & El Torpedo

• Lee’s Palace (529 Bloor West), Saturday (September 25)

Expect to see the major-label reps swarming at Lee’s Saturday night as hot prospect Matt Mays & El Torpedo preview their forthcoming album. See feature, page 52.

Of Montreal

• Poor Alex Theatre (296 Brunswick), Saturday (September 25)

Sure, the Poor Alex is an unconventional venue for an Elephant 6 band, but Georgia’s Of Montreal aren’t your average psych-pop fops.

The Skatalites

• Reverb (735 Queen East), Sunday (September 26)

Legends of Jamaican music Lloyd Brevett and Lloyd Knibb aren’t getting any younger, so don’t miss the Skatalites while they’re still in top form.

Tegan and Sara

• Mod Club Theatre (722 College), Monday (September 27)

The most entertaining thing about power pop pair Tegan and Sara is watching the cute-as-a-button twins try to psychologically decimate each other onstage. Their harmonies are pretty nice, too.

Rye Coalition, the Kinison

• Horseshoe (370 Queen West), Tuesday (September 28)

All right, so Division of Laura Lee dropped off the bill. Refunds available at point of purchase. Bummer! But, hey, Rye Coalition are still going to play Tuesday at the Horseshoe, and it’s now a free show!
