What Toronto restaurant do you like to eat at before a show?
Before the show, I'd try and find something light and vegetarian - maybe a salad from Vegetarian Haven (17 Baldwin, 416-621-3636), and throw some tofu drumsticks in there as well. After the show I'd look for a hotdog stand with veggie dogs or maybe a $1.00 slice.
How do you spend your day off in Toronto?
Our big day off in Toronto was at the Crowne Plaza hotel - normally we wouldn't be in such a nice hotel, but we were on tour with our friends Bright Eyes at the time. After a dip in the hot tub, we went to a barbecue at a friend's house and then, by some strange alignment of the stars, our friends from Omaha, The Good Life, happened to be playing at the Horseshoe, so we went to hang out with them.
What was your biggest misconception about Toronto?
That everyone ended every sentence with "Eh?"
What was your most memorable border crossing experience heading to Toronto?
Probably when our former front-of-house engineer was outed for some criminal changes he incurred 20 years earlier when he was 18 years old.
What's the wildest time you've ever had in Toronto?
I think it was when we were on tour with No Doubt and their keyboard player let us invite some people over to his hotel room. They called all their friends, and... to make a long story short, we were ejected from the hotel.
