Music

Justin Tyce

Rating: NNNNN

WHERE IS HE PLAYING? You can catch him every Thursday at Queenshead (659 Queen West) as one of the resident DJs of Be Nice. He’s also at the El Mocambo (464 Spadina) June 1 as part of Get Lei’d, organized by Email Productions.

WHAT DOES HE PLAY? “Anything that turns my crank, preferably mashups, mixed with electro-rave-bass-breakbeat-techno,” he says.

WHY IS HE DJING? “I’ve loved the music since I was wee. I’m a big people person, and that’s what makes the party and what makes the music.”

WHY SHOULD WE CARE? Because he’s one of the few DJs bridging the gap between post-rave DJ culture and the new wave of indie-dance parties. The sooner “new-rave” stops being ironic, the better – the kids just want to dance and party it up, as they should.
