What club do you hit when you want to party after a gig?

I’m not really into going to clubs, and I haven’t been to too many in Toronto — only cuz I just turned 19 and wasn’t allowed before. If I do go, it has to be a place that’s safe, plays great R&B music and is somewhere all my friends love or would like to go. The Toronto clubs I’ve been to and enjoyed are Tonic, Ultra Supper Club, C Lounge, the Guvernment and Muzik.

What do you hate about Toronto?

What I hate most is down by the Lakeshore lakefront, where the walkways and grass don’t look like they should. There’s way too much garbage there, and I wish the city would clean it up. I have a dog and clean up after him! It’d be such an amazing place if everyone would just do their part and clean it up .

Who’s your favourite Toronto artist?

My favourite right now is k-os. I love his attitude, the vocal arrangements in his songs and the way they all have an old-school hiphop and b-boy sound.

What was your biggest misconception about Toronto?

The traffic. When I saw all the cars on the highway for the first time, I thought I could never wait in traffic for that long. I was used to traffic in Ottawa, which lasts 15 or 20 minutes max, and that’s going from east to west. Now traffic is just a part of my life. I wouldn’t change it for nothing.

What’s the wildest time you’ve ever had in Toronto?

One of the wildest times was during Fashion Week. I was opening the show by hosting and walking down the runway. It was crazy running backstage and having to change as fast as I could for each look. At one point I’d left something upstairs that I needed for the show, so I had to run up a long set of stairs that were outside and covered with ice and snow, all in 4-inch heels! My friends — who are also my dancers — and I had a field day. The show was held at Ultra Supper Club, and afterwards we got to dance and enjoy the music. Any night with my dancers is wild, cuz they are funny and have such animated personalities, but this night was one of my favourites. Each time a song came on they’d break out into full-on choreography together! Everyone was looking at them like they were crazy, and I couldn’t help but laugh till I was in tears. After all that, we headed to our hotel, cracked jokes and played some games.
