Back in October, Toronto's favourite country-rockers, local legends Blue Rodeo released their 13th studio album, In Our Nature.
Not only did it inspire super-solid reviews (including one from this magazine), but it galvanized other artists to create as well. Case in point: the Juno Award-winning director Christopher Mills who would not be satisfied by making any ol' music video.
"After spending close time with the band, shooting and rehearsing all these great songs, the idea developed to try to make a video that encapsulated the feel for the album, rather than just the songs. I shared this with the team, and was encouraged to run with it," said Mills of the project.
The result? A two-song mashup of Mattawa (great tune - beautiful town, too, if you've never been) and album standout New Morning Sun which turned into much more.
Said frontman Jim Cuddy: "He has such a unique eye and style...He came back with an 18 minute opus. Part narrative, part abstract and all beautiful to look at; the video rewards multiple viewings. A truly wonderful piece of work."
