Paper Bag Records
Running an independent music label these days is like running a charity. You seek out people of goodwill who still shop for new music with intentions to support the artist. Buying CDs by an independent artist donates to the cause, and the record label administers that donation.
In that sense, Paper Bag is the Greenpeace of record labels - a powerhouse among its peers, with credibility to boot. The imprint that once boosted the careers of Broken Social Scene and Tokyo Police Club hasn't lost sight of its local mandate. With left-field artists like Laura Barrett and Slim Twig now filling the roster, it's clear Paper Bag still believes in our indie community and isn't just going for the easy fundraisers.
