MANA BAR

722 College 416-537-9292 Rating: NNNNN

VIBE A Latin club in the heart of Little Italy, Mana could be described as the straight younger brother of El Convento Rico. Nights tend to revolve around different nationalities, but all are welcome no matter what the theme. The basement club looks kind of like a pub, with brick walls and a bar resting on top of barrels. The music goes from top 40 to Latin and Brazilian dance music.

DANCING OR CHILLING In a city where so many VIP lounges have replaced dance floor space, it’s refreshing to enter a small club where most of the venue is dedicated to dancing. There’s a limited amount of seating, so expect to be on your feet unless you claim it early.

SOUND & LIGHTS A lot of club lighting has been crammed into a small place. Lasers, strobes, smart lights and a smoke machine give it that disco vibe, but there’s something very down-to-earth about how they’re used.

VALUE Cover charge varies but is often lower for women, and usually lower early in the evening. A domestic beer runs $5.50, an import $6.
