VIBE As the name suggests, this is a heavy metal bar featuring loud, chugging rock bands every weekend. It’s a relatively spacious basement spot, and the multilevel design offers good sightlines from every part of the room. The feel is grimy and a bit makeshift, the polar opposite of a fancy bottle-service lounge.
PAST LIFE Previously known as Sur Lounge and, before that Palazzo. The look and layout still bear traces of its former existence as a Latin club, but of course the vibe is very different.
VALUE Cover charge is generally small (if there is one), and a domestic beer runs you $4.50.
BATHROOMS For a metal bar, the bright colours seem a bit out of place (presumably left over from its last incarnation). Cleaner than you’d expect, but not by much.
