When Toronto's loudest band, METZ, got signed to Sub Pop earlier this year, the sizable group of fans who'd been getting their eardrums lovingly blasted by the noise-punks for years let out whoops of excitement and pride.
The self-titled album, dropping October 9, features 10 bone-rattling, minor-key blasts of explosive drumming, menacingly one-note grunge riffs and frantic out-of-your-mind vocals. Totally hypnotic and mysteriously catchy.
If first single Headache is any indication, the album captures the energy of the band's live show. Which doesn't mean you should pass up a performance - especially the sure-to-be-celebratory record release show October 12 at the Horseshoe.
