Five hundred bands and 25 films over four days not quite enough to fill your boots? The NXNExtra Series kicks off the madness and continues past the final day, allowing early birds to flash their wristbands or passes to get into a range of limited-access shows.
Parts of the lineup rival NXNE proper, with established acts like reverb-addicted Kentucky psych-spewers My Morning Jacket reserving places for a lucky NXNE few (June 16, Kool Haus, 8 pm), another 50 spots up for grabs at the Lightspeed Champion’s Lee’s show (June 11, 9 pm) and three dozen for the Stills at the Mod Club (also June 11, 8 pm). Hip-hop lovers will drool when rap heavyweight Sheek Louch takes over the Phoenix (June 13), while a handful of diehard music doc fans will be able squeeze bums onto seats at Bloor Cinema’s The Death Of Indie Rock, screening June 22.
