THE FUTURE SOUND OF TORONTO Featuring Egyptrixx, Syntonics, Sta, Loe tech, Autoerotique, Mansion, Pilotpriest and TMDP at Circa (126 John), Friday (January 30), 10 pm. $15. circatoronto.com.
The Nacho Lovers (aka Andrew Ross and Scotty Seewhale) were a hair away from getting bumped off this list for being too big.
They had an extraordinary 2008 and have honed their revisionist take on classic house into an effective trademark sound that's getting love from key tastemakers all over the globe.
Steve Aoki's Dim Mak label picked up their remix of Pase Rock's Get Money Kids, Vice got behind their reworking of Chromeo's 100%, Nastymix put out their mix of Thunderheist's Jerk It, and A-Trak's highly rated Fool's Gold has wholeheartedly embraced them and will be releasing their debut single later this year.
WHO'S DROPPING THEIR TRACKS
The international DJs playing Nacho Lovers include Diplo, Claude VonStroke, MSTRKRFT, Sinden, Eli Escobar and Jokers of the Scene.
WHAT THEY SOUND LIKE
"House." (Not that annoying TV doctor.)
WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN FOR TORONTO'S SCENE TO BLOW UP LARGE
"Cities don't make music - it's the artists who will do the blowing up."
