Nightlife Guide: Wheres the Party?

Rating: NNNNN

AD/D Since exploding onto the scene two years ago, AD/D have emerged as top dogs for all that’s new and hyped-up in dance music. If it’s big and had something to do with electro/rock/house/mashups, it’s probably their doing.

FUKHOUSE Techno veterans Fukhouse have scaled back a bit over the past year, concentrating more on their Friday-night residency at the small dance lounge Toi Bar, but if you keep your eyes open you’ll notice they’re also involved in most of the best larger techno and tech-house events.

DMONEY Their vibe usually centres on aggressive, grimy party music, including electro, Baltimore club, booty, hiphop and mashups. Currently, Dmoney’s monthly events are Fuck Faces, Full Effect and Next Party, as well as sporadic one-offs and collaborations with other promoters.

BLACKMARKET UK pioneers Blackmarket came to town a few years ago to set up a now-defunct record shop, and then moved on to parties. They’re also about to open Crosstown, a club dedicated to underground dance music.

HOTSTEPPER If you like your dance music with an extra helping of soul and funk, the Hotstepper boys have been the ones to turn to for over a decade. Their main events are the house-focused Garage 416 parties and the eclectic urban Bump N’ Hustle throwdowns.
