2015 is turning out to be a very good year for Shad.
The London, Ontario rapper and relatively new host of CBC’s q is now confirmed to close out NXNE on June 21 alongside NÜE, Casey Veggies, and Ty Dolla $ign at Yonge-Dundas Square. He will replace rapper Action Bronson, whose appearance was cancelled after an online petition protested him playing in a public space due to misogynistic lyrics and images in his work.
The YDS show is free and all-ages.
Action Bronson declined NXNE’s efforts to reschedule the show at another venue.
The festival also announced that Cold Cave will replace White Lung, who had to cancel their Canadian dates due to immigration issues, at Adelaide Hall on June 20 with Programm, Greys and Deafheaven.
NXNE also says CATL, Ben Caplan, Jane’s Party, Orange O’Clock and Iceage will play a CBCmusic.ca show at the new NXNE hub on June 19.
