NXNE brings out the big guns

Wow. The first glimpse of the 2010 NXNE festival (June 14-20) lineup has been unveiled, and it’s pretty fucking impressive. Without even touching on all the cool club shows and conference stuff, the free outdoor Yonge-Dundas Square gigs are easily the biggest in the festival’s history.

Iggy and the Stooges will make NXNE their only North American stop on this tour, coinciding with the release of the deluxe edition of their classic Raw Power album. Los Angeles punk icons X will also appear, celebrating the re-release of Wild Gift.

On the funkier side, hip-hop legends De La Soul will rock the square with support from hipster rapper Kid Sister. Grunge pioneers Mudhoney (who’d hate that we described them that way) will be there, plus up-and-coming buzz acts Surfer Blood and Wavves. Did we mention that awesome Danish noise-pop duo the Raveonettes are also playing the free series? And Canadian fuzz-pop heroes Sloan?

If this is what they’re offering for free, just imagine what your wristband will get you. See nxne.com for details.
