Party’s Over

Party’s Over

After 17 years of bringing pulsing EDM to unexpected environs – the great Ontario wilderness of Algonquin Park – WEMF (World Electronic Music Festival) is being put on indefinite hiatus. WEMF was Canada’s first multi-day electronic music festival, but perhaps newer, closer-to-home fest Digital Dreams has stolen some of its ticket thunder. No hard feelings, though – anyone who purchased a pass will be fully reimbursed and will receive a discount on Digital Dreams tickets. (Both WEMF and DD are Electronic Nation events.)

Bright Stars, Big Photos

The opening of Norman Wong x Arts & Crafts, a retrospective of the local photographer’s A&C photos from the past decade, brought out all the label’s boldfaces for food, drink and photos last Thursday, May 23. Among the musical shoulder-brushers we saw at the West Queen West Arts & Crafts pop-up gallery were Feist, Cold Specks, Jeffrey Remedios, Kevin Drew, Jake Gold, Brendan Canning and Katie Stelmanis.

I Saw The Sign

If you’ve had trouble spotting the Garrison in the past due to its minimal signage, you’ll be glad to know that the Dundas West watering hole and live music venue just got a much larger sign. On Monday evening, May 27, a crane carefully lifted the fetching wayfinder onto the building top while passersby looked on. Just in time for NXNE.
