Pat C

Rating: NNNNN

WHERE CAN WE HEAR HIM? Every Tuesday at Lot 16 (1136 Queen West, 416-531-6556), but he’s probably best known for the monthly Lost Cats party, which will be celebrating its first anniversary May 12 at the White Orchid (812 Dundas West).

WHAT DOES HE PLAY? “I love open-format nights when I can read crowds and play anything. I have a tendency to mix stupid and smart, and play music that I would have hated a couple of years ago. I find myself playing a lot of blog house, but mostly snotty, sarcastic, fun stuff. I want people to dance, so I play dance music. I really play anything from 80s and 90s pop music, disco and hiphop to hipster house and mashups.”

WHY DOES HE DO IT? “Late-night radio and mix tapes are what got me started. As a kid, I would stay up and listen to late-night radio when real DJs were able to play real sets. I was awestruck at their ability to mix songs and switch up styles, so I started making mix tapes with my dad’s vinyl collection and tape deck, pausing to make the perfect mix. I got my first set of turntables when I graduated high school, which made mixing a little easier.”
