Ryze at 423 College is changing its name to Nest and will celebrate with a May long weekend kickoff featuring South African house music-maker Black Coffee on May 15, Norways Fehrplay on May 16 and NYC dance music legend Danny Tenaglia on May 17. The 13,000-square-foot space has been newly renovated and outfitted with a Dynacord sound system, a main room that holds 560 people and a smaller room for 300. Friday nights will be dedicated to international DJs, and Saturdays to local house-music talent. See listing.
In other College Street music venue news, vowel-averse nightclub Blnd Tger has opened a few blocks down the street from Ryze, at 559 College. Itll also focused on DJ talent, including Fridays (May 1) New Vintage event featuring hip-hop and R&B from then and now, spun by ISC Nation, TNT, the Kid MC and resident DJs Spence Diamonds and Mista Jiggz.
