Sarah Assbring of El Perro del Mar at the Mod Club Monday (March 5) Rating: NNNNN

What album changed your life, and why? Pet Sounds, by the Beach Boys. When I was old enough to really fully understand the total beauty and pain of it I was just blown away, and I haven’t looked back since then.

What was your strangest experience onstage? I played at a lovely outdoor festival in the English countryside last summer, and among the crowd there was this peacock strutting around yelling something very high-pitched that sounded just like “el perro”! First, I thought someone in the audience was being rude, but then I noticed the birdand was very happy.

What currently popular song do you never want to hear again, and why? Sandi Thom’s I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker. It’s amazingly bad, and I wish I’d never heard it at all.

What actor would you want to play you in a film about your life, and why? That’s a weird thought. I wouldn’t want to know anything about thatmovie. It’d better be made when I’m dead and gone.

Which song do you wish you’d written, and why? Antonio Vivaldi’s choral piece Gloria, because it’s the sound of heaven, and he must have seen it to have been able to write it.

If you’d never got involved in writing/playing music, how would you be making a living today? I’d have finished my studies by now and maybe be working as a linguist researcher or some kind of librarian. Somewhere dusty and cozy is where I’d be.
