VIBE It’s on the premises of infamous Queen West dive the Duke of Connaught, but this totally new bar has nothing in common with it except the address and a tavern licence. Still is much brighter, cleaner and more modern. A restaurant by day, at night it hosts DJs and occasional live acts. The club just got in a new booker, who’s filling it up with an eclectic mix of everything from Britpop to house to hiphop, depending on the night. There’s a licensed patio out back, and lots of couches inside for lounging.
VALUE No cover, coat check or washroom attendants, but that doesn’t translate to cheap drinks.
BATHROOMS Nice design details, and pretty clean. The manager made a point of showing off the women’s rest room, so the owners must like to keep them in good shape.
LINEUP Unless it suddenly becomes really busy, it’s very unlikely that you’ll have to wait in line to get in.
