TERANGA

TERANGA 159 Augusta, 416-849-9777 Rating: NNNNN

VIBE

By day, Teranga is a Senegalese restaurant, but come nightfall you’ll find it full of hipsters getting down at electro parties or bobbing their heads to indie rock bands. If this quirky split personality sounds familiar, it may be because their event booker once worked the same magic across the street at the Boat.

VALUE

Cover charge is generally $5 or less, and you can get a domestic beer for $4 ($5 for a mixed drink).

CAN YOU DANCE?

While it’s set up as a restaurant, there’s enough room to get down, and once the kids loosen up a bit you can expect some ass-shaking.

PAST LIVES

Once upon a time this spot was a Portuguese restaurant, but stood empty for six years before reopening this past spring.
