The second annual Toronto edition of experimental music festival Unsound has unveiled this year’s line-up.
Due to take place at the Hearn Generating Station on June 10 and 11 as part of the Luminato Festival, the event is shaping up as the city’s most diverse and adventurous festivals, encompassing noise, drone, metal, dub, futuristic dancehall, techno and all manner of deconstructed club sounds.
The first day is the noisy one. Joining previously announced headliners Sunn o))) on June 10 are British producer The Bug featuring Miss Red and Flowdan, London duo Raime – making their Canadian debut – dance experimentalist Lotic, Chicago footwork producer Jlin (pictured), Montreal-based ambient musician Kara-Lis Coverdale, self-proclaimed “transevangelist” Elysia Crampton, Finland’s Amnesia Scanner and Lebanese DJ Rabih Beaini.
As previously announced, Los Angeles-based Montreal electronic musician Tim Hecker, who just released his Love Streams album via Paper Bag and 4AD, returns to Unsound this year on June 11.
The rest of the day two line-up includes performances and sets by Nine Inch Nails collaborator Alessandro Cortini, sci-fi dub and drone producer Roly Porter, techno duo Ancient Methods, industrial duo Orphx, New York techno producer Aurora Halal, club deconstructionists Hot Shotz, Unsound Krakow resident DJ Olivia, four-piece collective T’ien Lai and and clarinetist/composer Waclaw Zimpel with Rabih Beaini.

The Unsound Festival started as an underground music event in Krakow, Poland in 2003 and has since held satellite events New York, London and Adelaide, Australia in addition to Toronto.
