The Weeknd’s vinyl fetish

Back when the Weeknd was releasing his brooding R&B dirges as free downloadable mixtapes, some in the industry were saying, “Sure, it’s great that people love him, but who’s going to pay for albums he’s already given away?”

The success of last year’s commercial re-release proved that theory wrong, and now you’ve got a new way to vote with your wallet: a deluxe limited-edition six-disc vinyl box set, signed by Abel Tesfaye himself. Only 500 copies will be produced, and they’ll be hand-numbered as well as signed, which explains why they’re going for almost $200.
