The Polaris Music Prize announced its long list this morning. Of all the Canadian full-length albums released last year, 40 acts were chosen by a nationwide jury of music professionals and media. It will be whittled down to 10 on June 16.
Local acts that made the cut include Metric and Metz, and the long list comes at an opportune time: you can catch many of these acts in Toronto in the next couple of weeks. A Tribe Called Red plays the Opera House on June 21, and Tegan and Sara play Downsview Park July 6.
Majical Cloudz plays the Blk Box on Friday (June 14) as part of NXNE.
